Will Brunsden

Music Teacher

Instrument Taught - Drums

Will has been playing drums for 17 years and teaching for 10 years. At the age of 13, he was inspired by Joey Jordison, Dave Lombardo, Stewart Copeland, Ian Paice and Buddy Rich. He took up lessons at secondary school, which was very short lived as his then teacher told him, he was wasting his time. However, this didn't stop Will, he was determined to play drums and have a career in music. He also took this as inspiration to start teaching himself and began a diploma course at ACM. Will has now had students achieving distinctions in grade exams across the exam boards.

In 2009, he started a diploma course at ACM and moved to Guildford to pursue music in a higher education setting. Once in Guildford he was playing every day of the week with different musicians and thriving off the inspirational environment that was ACM. Will was instructed under the watchful gaze of Dan Foord, Pete Riley, Toby Drummond, Frank Tontoh and Mike Sturgis. He has always enjoyed playing assorted styles of music, his favourite being rock/metal, jazz fusion, hip hop and electronica. He graduated from ACM Guildford, in 2013 with a 2.1 B:A hons degree in music performance.

Will was the drummer with OBLIVIONIZED. Whilst storming around the UK and mainland Europe, some of his favourite moments with the band have been playing a festival in the Czech Republic (OEF) supporting Napalm Death, supporting Converge at Incubate festival 2015 in Tilburg Holland (whilst on the same festival bill as bands such as Alcest, The Melvins, Mr Scruff, Of The Wand and The Moon, William Basinski and Wire), Burning Light Festival in Portugal, playing The Underworld in Camden twice with Cryptopsy and Integrity, playing to 1,000+ people in Motion Bristol at Temples festival, and being played on the Radio 1 ROCK show. The band successfully released an album on digital and physical format (CD and LP).

At the same time as playing in OBLIVIONIZED, Will was working for various UK metal bands as a roadie and merchandiser (most notably HTB, SikTH and Krokodil). This was a great way to learn about the industry first-hand and meet new contacts. Not forgetting a fantastic opportunity to see his favourite bands perform at various UK and European festivals.

Unfortunately, OBLIVIONIZED climaxed in early 2016. Luckily, Will landed the gig as a part-time teacher at Hogan Music in 2016. Since then, he has become a full-time employee. Currently, he plays dep gigs and plays in his own projects Slaughtered on Set, a punk ska cover band and EFT-BOREN a progressive metal band.

Will enjoys helping his students to progress and fulfil their potential. He is available for tuition, band mentoring, song writing, recording sessions and any other music tuition related service. Will teaches Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's. Although primarily teaching drums, he also runs the 'Jam Club' at the Clere School and teaches at St. Nicks School in Newbury!
