Instruments Taught - Guitar, Bass & Ukulele
Martin has been a face in the Newbury music scene for many years. He has studied music at the Musicians Institute London, Academy of Contemporary Music Guildford, and SAE (School of Audio Engineering) Institute, and all this study has provided him with a wealth of knowledge that he passes on to his students.
Martin is one of the longest standing teachers here at Hogan Music. He has taught guitar, bass, and ukulele for over 25 years, both privately and in our local collage and a number of the local schools in the area. He has since joined the team at Hogans and provides his expertise in teaching all age groups, styles and abilities.
With the establishment of the recording studio at Hogans, Martin was asked to provide his expertise in sound management and music production and is now managing the studio. He has long enjoyed the process of recording, be it singer-song writers, audiobooks, brass bands, string quartets or a full on rock act!
When he is not here at Hogan Music, Martin spends his time playing guitar with The No Good Sons, a local band that has a great following. Martin was asked to produce the Sons' first album and when they heard of Martin's guitar skills on the other side of the recording desk, they quickly asked him to join the band full-time. Since then, Martin has co-written and produced album number two with the rest of the band, and together they play many gigs wherever the road takes them.
