Instruments Taught - Piano
Music has always played an integral part in Jemima's life. The first instrument she learnt to play was the guitar at the age of 7. It was when she started learning the piano in her mid-teens that she really began to appreciate classical music.
Jemima began classical training in piano at the age of 15, just over two years later achieving ABRSM Grade 8 Distinction and the following year, in 2014, the Associate Diploma in Piano Performance from Trinity College London.
Jemima has since attended the renowned Dartington International Music Summer School, with the piano and guitar. It was there that she was introduced to the use of guitar and percussion in Brazilian music; something that she is really enjoying learning more about.
In the past few years Jemima has played for weddings, firstly with the piano and most recently with the lever harp. She also enjoys composing and will often spend hours improvising at the piano, particularly pieces in the style of nocturnes and impromptus; she greatly admires the music of Chopin and Schubert.
Piano Tutoring with Jemima
Through her teaching, Jemima has enabled pupils to achieve great success with ABRSM classical piano grades, with many students attaining merits and distinctions. Jemima believes that introducing basic music theory in piano lessons, even to young students, will enable them to better understand the repertoire they are learning and subsequently facilitate a greater understanding of music.
With more advanced students, as well as developing technical ability, Jemima encourages an analytical approach to learning repertoire - examining the harmony, understanding the compositional techniques and exploring interpretation. Of course, all the while ensuring lessons are fun!
Teaching enables Jemima to share her passion for music and encourage others who are interested in discovering the joy of the piano!

"Jemima is teaching my son for more than a year now. My son is loving the weekly lessons with Jemima. Jemima is moving the lessons at a pace that suits him whilst keeping the fun and enjoyment. When we moved online we were not sure how things would work out but the way Jemima runs the lessons helps to make it as fun as possible from the comfort of our home. Jemima is extremely patient, listens and explains whatever the questions my son is asking even if it is not related to piano sometimes. Jemima's teaching style and enthusiasm for music really helps. We would highly recommend Jemima."
"Jemima's continual encouragement and support enabled our 4yr old daughter to learn effectively right from the first lesson. I would have no hesitation in recommending her for piano tuition!"
