Hogan Academy CIO

Within our Music Centre in Newbury, we have six fully equipped teaching rooms where we offer a fantastic range of music lessons for a variety of instruments, DJ and Vocal lessons.

Since the Academy was founded back in November 2014, the aim had always been to become a Charity whose main purpose was to make music accessible to all, regardless of financial situation or ability. On 22nd December 2016 our wish came true and we achieved Charitable status. This means that we can now fulfil our core purpose and start to give musical experiences to those who wouldn't otherwise be able to access music, therefore enabling everyone to experience the magic of music.

Our main focus is on young people - those under 25, to be precise. We are aiming to provide subsidised session in schools, as well as give free lessons to those who fit the given criteria. We already operate free 'Jam Clubs' at Hungerford Community Centre and at The Clere School and hope to expand that provision to other schools and local centres. In the fullness of time, and depending on funding, we will also be looking to drop the price of lessons for all of our students under the age of 25, regardless of whether they have their lessons here or at school.

We believe you are never too old or young to start your budding music career! And offer the very best in music tuition for all abilities from a variety of qualified and experienced teachers who love music and will help you to get up and playing as soon as possible.

We currently deliver music lessons to over 400 young people and adults at our premises, in local schools and community centres. Our experienced teachers are fully referenced and have valid DBS certificates, and all teach with our main ethos in mind, which is that learning music should be fun and a positive experience.

We are an inclusive organisation who understand the developmental benefits of learning an instrument and believes that music should be accessible to all, regardless of background or ability. This belief is what drove us to become a Charity. Now we are officially operating as a Charity, we are able to offer FREE musical experiences to those who may otherwise not have been able to access them.

As with any Charity, we are always in need of funding and support from our local community to help us continue to support those who are in receipt of free music lessons. Donations of any amount are very welcome and will be used to give the gift of music to disadvantaged young people and adults, and improve the quality of their lives in the process.
